McGrath’s Irish Ale House is co-owned by Bruce Mahnke. He was just a kid when he would watch his great-grandmother cook for her large family. Elisa McGrath had 17 children and spent a lot of time in the kitchen cooking up Irish meals to feed her family. Mahnke remembers the times he would watch her line up liquors like other cooks line up spices. She often cooked with everything from beer, to wine, to whiskey. Mahnke was inspired by his great-grandmother’s work in the kitchen, and years later McGrath’s Irish Ale House was born.
Mahnke co-owns McGrath’s Irish Ale House alongside restaurateur Albert Myara, Myara’s son, and Ed’s Tavern co-owner Bob Bender. The restaurant has only been open a short time, but it’s making an impact bringing Irish food to Lakewood Ranch.
“To have a restaurant where I can deliver my family’s recipes to guests is a great thanks,” Mahnke said.
McGrath’s Irish Ale House offers outdoor seating for as many as 100 people, with views overlooking the lake. This stunning view, paired with delicious Irish food, beer, and whiskey, is sure to make for a remarkable dining experience.
